Astrid Ho
January 10, 2014 – February 15, 2016

Astrid Ho’s abstract works reference the environment and images of nature. Her new abstract monotypes on paper continue to reference nature, within the context of the aerial perspective. The images of her work are based on passing snapshots during her flights to/from Thunder Bay, Vancouver and New York City, between August to November 2013. The passing moments of time, and the distilled views are explored through her prints.

Astrid Ho is a Hong Kong-born, Toronto-based artist. She received an Associate of the Ontario College of Art and Design with Honours in 1997, and received a BFA from OCAD University through the degree-completion program in 2010. In her fine arts practice, Ho attended a printmaking residency at the Vermont Studio Center with a fellowship in 2005, and is a staff (since 2004) and artist member (since 1998) of Open Studio. She has been an arts instructor at the McMichael Collection, Latcham Gallery and Open Studio, where she teaches occasionally in weekend workshops. In 2009, Ho received a project grant from the Ontario Arts Council Access and Career Development Grant, creating Versions, a print installation. Her numerous solo and group exhibitions include Fleck Dance Theatre at Harbourfront (ON), Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Art Gallery (NL), Olive Branch Press (NY), AWOL Gallery (ON), and Open Studio (ON). Her works are represented in various art collections including Bank of Montreal, The Canada Council Art Bank, Holt Renfrew, National Bank of Canada, and St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto.
