To print or not to print? Join us at Open Studio on October 22 at 6:00pm for an artist talk with Dr. Ruth Pelzer-Montada, exploring the relevance of printmaking in contemporary, multi- and interdisciplinary art. She will discuss why print has been historically marginalized and how its material, conceptual, and technical qualities shape current artistic practice, showcasing examples of expanded printmaking that retain the medium’s distinctive “printerliness.”

Ruth Pelzer-Montada, PhD, is an artist and lecturer in contemporary art and theory in the School of Art at Edinburgh College of Art, The University of Edinburgh. She has published numerous articles and catalogue essays on print and contemporary art and is the editor of Perspectives on contemporary printmaking: Critical writing since 1986, published by Manchester University Press, 2018.
