Nuit Blanche 2024: Jeannie Thib
October 5, 2024 –
For Nuit Blanche, on October 5th, Open Studio will be responding to the two large framed linocut prints from Jeannie Thib’s Tabula series that are installed in the corridor outside of Open Studio’s entrance in the 401 Richmond Street building. A series of prints drawn from Thib’s artwork collection for sale will be presented in our shop window (and online), while her large-scale print work, Baudelaire’s Mistress, will be installed in our Main Gallery and available to view from the hallway. This monumental print will also form part of our upcoming exhibition presenting a selection of large-scale artworks collected for Open Studio’s print archive.

Jeannie Thib (1955–2013) was a Canadian artist, sculptor, and printmaker who was deeply valued within the Open Studio community. Her work often explored decorative patterns from textiles and domestic environments, which she transformed through techniques of cutting, layering, and reconfiguring. By magnifying, repeating, and altering these patterns, Thib created innovative and dynamic compositions.
