Project Space
Required field must not be left blank
Zoe Teng
January 9, 2026 – March 14, 2026
OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, January 9, 6-8 pm at Open Studio.
In Required field must not be left blank, Zoe Teng explores the non-linear nature of experience from the intersection of printmaking and photography.
Based on Teng’s archive of photographs taken on the road over more than a decade, these enigmatic yet intimate images engage viewers in a search beyond the traditional experience of space and time in the realm of poetry.
Presented in the language of visual haiku, Teng composes the works with a rhythmic quality by actively imagining the empty space, a continuous suspense, a place/void. The photographic images are treated as objects or relics, examined through a prism of metaphysical reflection and transformed by interventions such as printmaking and collaging processes.
Teng is interested in paradoxes, the way certain experiences are not grounded by perceived reality but by the absence of it. What is studied is both tangible and visceral, with an open-ended independence resistant to reductive narratives.

Zoe Teng is a visual artist born in Taipei, Taiwan, working primarily with photography and printmaking. Deeply informed by long periods of travel, her work explores interpretations of memory, place, and the notion of nomadism. Her practice is a search for poetry, revolving around a space of nuanced contradictions — transience and timelessness, narration and abstraction. A former expat in Australia, she has worked for contemporary art galleries and art-based initiatives in Sydney and the Northern Territory. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Australia, the UK, and China.
