Winnie Truong’s print subscription, some help from a friend, expands her drawing and paper-cut practice into the medium of a delicately layered screenprint. Continuing an overarching interest in the distortion of beauty, Truong’s latest work specifically considers the representation of the idealized female form in relation to nature.
Truong’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Her work is represented internationally in private and public collections including the Doris McCarthy Gallery at the University of Toronto, The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas, and the Bank of Denmark, Copenhagen among others.
About the Print Subscription Program
Twice a year, Open Studio invites a well-known contemporary artist to create a 10″ x 8″ print, which is available for purchase in advance of a set deadline for $100. The edition size of the print is determined by how many people buy-in (ie: ‘subscribe’ to the edition) before the deadline closes. The Print Subscription offers an affordable entry point for emerging collectors to purchase an artwork by an established visual artist, whilst helping to support Open Studio’s Visiting Artist Program.
