About Studio Access

Art Documentation Monthlies

Active September through June
Services are primarily intended for two-dimensional artworks.

Open Studio offers documentation services for primarily two-dimensional artworks using our Archive digitization rig. Sessions are facilitated by Helen Tran, Archive Assistant Volunteer since 2022.

Session Details

  • Public rate: $80 + HST per capture
  • Member rate: $40 + HST per capture
  • Maximum capture area: 24″ x 36″
  • Each session includes JPEG and RAW files with in-camera white balancing
  • Post-production is not included, but may be arranged separately with Helen as an additional service

Schedule & Booking

Sessions take place on the last Monday of each month, subject to availability. Sessions are paused during July and August and resume in September. To book a session, email pudy@openstudio.ca by Sunday, one week before your preferred session date. A time slot will be assigned upon sign-up.

What to Bring:  1) Artwork to be documented and 2) A USB drive with at least 64GB of available storage.

Photo-positive Transparency Output

Weekly Service

Open Studio produces photo-positive film outputs using an Epson SureColor T3270 with black dye ink on CAMSTAT Waterproof Film.

  • Public rate: $24 + HST per running foot
  • Member rate: $12 + HST per running foot

Orders are processed once all invoices have been paid.

Deadlines & Turnaround

Submit files by 12 pm every Monday, or Tuesday when Monday is a holiday. Orders are completed by the end of the submission day.

File Submission Guidelines

Send files to pudy@openstudio.ca with the following specifications:

  • Submit separate files for each film length. Do not submit layered Photoshop files.
  • Accepted file formats: .BMP, .JPG, .PSD, .PDF
  • Dimensions: scaled to desired size at 360 DPI
  • Colour mode: BITMAP

For greyscale images using the RIP software halftone pattern, include: frequency (Lines per inch), angle and shape,
