The Dreamer is Still Asleep
Khadijah Morley
April 19, 2024 – June 1, 2024

OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, April 19, 5-7 pm at Open Studio, Suite 104, 401 Richmond St. W, Toronto.

Please note that this exhibition will mark the final scheduled Project Space exhibition before Open Studio’s temporary closure for space restructuring from July 2024 to December 2024. Our front-of-house area will be open to the public during this time, but programming will be temporarily paused while we feature items for sale from our shop and archive.

In The Dreamer is Still Asleep, Khadijah Morley showcases a collection of vibrant, yet subtle new prints. Working intuitively, she allows unconscious decisions to inform her imagery. The result is the emergence of new imaginative realms. Working with linocut and wood carving, she creates work from a Black-feminist framework; prioritizing subjectivity as a counter-narrative. Surrealism serves as a guiding aesthetic in her practice; where dreams, magic, and reality converge.

Khadijah Morley (she/her) is a Toronto-based artist and educator with a BFA in Drawing and Painting, and a minor in Printmaking from OCAD University. Khadijah has been featured on CBC Arts and was a recipient of the Fellowship Program at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California (2022). She recently attended the Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR): Early Career program and will be travelling to Petaluma, California to attend a residency at In Cahoots in 2024.
