Speaker: Mohammad Tabesh
Topic: On Resistance and Resilience
Date: Thursday, July 21, 2022
Time: 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm ET via Zoom
Structure: 30min talk, 15min discussion / Q&A
In this Print Speak session: On Resistance and Resilience, Mohammad Tabesh discusses his latest work, The Book of Fading Memories, based on his childhood experience of war and violence. Inspired by the book as art, from medieval illuminated manuscripts to modern-day graphic novels, each turn of the page tells a single story, narrated from two parallel viewpoints: “now” and “then.” By sharing these profoundly personal memories, Mohammad avoids the cliché of shock and horrors of war on one hand and the abstract notion of war seen from far away on the other hand.
